Pet Preventative Care

RSPCA PNG offers preventative care through its veterinary clinic, which includes vaccinations, parasite control (for fleas, ticks, and worms), and de-sexing services and we recommend regular check-ups, parasite treatments, and de-sexing for long-term pet health and welfare.

Services offered

Vaccinations – Recommended for puppies and cats to protect against common diseases, with annual boosters for adult cats.

Internal parasite control – Deworming should start in puppies and kittens, with adult animals needing treatment every three months.

External parasite control – Treatments are available for fleas, ticks, and mites, with advice on the best options for your pet from the vet clinic.

Services offered

Heartworm prevention – A heartworm test is recommended before starting prevention. Prevention can be given as a daily or monthly tablet, syrup, or an annual injection.

De-sexing – The RSPCA strongly recommends de-sexing all companion animals as it leads to better health, longer life, and prevents unwanted litters.

Health check-ups – Annual check-ups are recommended to detect and prevent potential diseases and health issues early.
