Mission Statement
The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals of PNG is a charitable
organization committed to the promotion of the welfare of "all
creatures great and small" in Papua New Guinea through:
- the prevention of cruelty to all animals
- the promotion of responsible ownership and management of all
animals
- the education of all people into the needs and care of all animals
including pets or companion animals, commercial or farmed animals,
working and performing animals, and wild creatures whether in captivity
or in the wild.
The RSPCA of PNG believes all animals have the right to:
- freedom from hunger or thirst
- freedom from exposure to excessive heat or cold
- freedom from disease
- freedom from pain and suffering
- freedom to move and behave normally
The RSPCA in Papua New Guinea will pursue reported cases of cruelty to animals and, if possible,
prosecute offenders under Part VI of the Animals Act. Rescued and abandoned
animals are taken into the RSPCA Shelter and when possible nursed back
to health, before being offered for re-homing.
Annual membership of the RSPCA costs a minimum of K15.00 for single
and K20.00 for family membership, but larger amounts as donations are
much appreciated. Junior membership (for children under 16) is free.
Members promote the work and policies of the RSPCA in the community,
and help to prevent cruelty to animals by reporting neglect and mistreatment.
